I made a delivery from Trinidad to St. Pete via the

Yucatan channel. I asked the owner three times if there were any guns or drugs on board because there was no way I was taking any chances on getting caught with any.

He assured me their were absolutely no drugs or guns aboard. Once underway and things settled down I did what I usually do on deliveries....open every locker and open space from bow to stern and see what all tools, toys etcetera were on board. I do a preliminary search before accepting the vessel but I like to be thorough when time allows.

I found a 38 caliber revolver wrapped up in some old foul weather gear stuffed way down in a forward locker along with a box of shells. #^%*&@$!!!

I broke the gun down into its simple parts and tossed the whole thing overboard.

About a week after finishing the delivery I got a phone call from the owner wanting to know where his pistol was. I simple told him there was no pistol aboard....as he swore to me there was not and "what the fuck are you saying? Are you telling me you let me risk my license and possible jail time in a foreign country by hiding a gun on board"?

He backed right off and hung up. I swear to god, you cannot trust anyone any more.
