Reports are coming back that there are something like 80 or 100 bots at anchorage there along with marinas being full. Part of the reason is that one of the marinas 'Club Nautico' has closed for repairs along with Cartagena being the new 'Hotspot' for the holidays. May be fun with that many boats but as I understand there has never been that many Yatistas in Cartagena at the same time.
We leave Bocas next week and are heading toward the San Blas. We're starting to think about spending Christmas in Portobello. With the Black Christ thing going it may be an interesting place to hang out.
We were looking forward to spending Christmas in Cartagena. Perhaps we'll go in January or February when it calms down.
Photo: Portobello Panama. The building in the photo is 300 years old and at one time there was so much gold coming through Portobello that the building was filled to the top and it was being stored in the town park. The museum says that nearly 1/3d of the worlds gold passed through Portobello at sometime in the past.
