I second the motion for Firefox. The folks here convinced me to switch to Firefox 3 years ago and I love it...built-in popup blocker, add-on ad blocker and cookie blocker. When I bought new computers, I used IE just once--to get to the web to download Firefox.

You'll also like Mozilla's email "companion" Thunderbird a WHOLE lot better than Outlook! Round out the picture with a Gmail account and you'll be a another happy online camper!
