I have to agree with you 1000%, but the problem is that too many sites are IE centric. I prefer Firefox myself, and it is loaded on every machine I use. However there are just too many sites that are written by lazy people that adhere only to the MS standards... for those sites, one may occasionally and begrudgingly have to haul out the IE.
This is perhaps my biggest gripe about MS products... and it is well known... once they get their foot in the door, they try to establish their version of the world as Bill Gates sees it... they have consistently done that since the DOS days and it is a royal PITA when the masses follow like little mice down the pied piper trail to technologically poor products.
Perhaps the only resolution is the hope that one day open source software will, like David, kill the Giant. For a while I thought Vista might persuade the masses that MS had indeed gone off the deep end. But with enough bells and whistles, it looks like pied piper is once again blowing the tune.
