Over the years we've done lots of sewing projects but our little light-duty Sears sewing machine lacks the grunt to do heavier stuff.
We went to the St. Pete Boat show yesterday to see Sailrite about their LSZ1 machine and maybe spend some money with them. Well, they weren't there. Actually, a LOT of folks weren't there but that's another thread I suppose.
Anyway, I had done a bunch of research on heavier portable sewing machines (we live aboard) and on Sailrite and their LSZ1 in particular. For sure the LSZ1 isn't the only game in town but the posts on their customer service was over the top.
I sent an e-mail to them last night (Saturday) saying basically, 'hey, you weren't there, can you make us deal?'
Matt, from Sailrite e-mails me back this morning (Sunday!) He offered some deals and, long story short, we spent money with them. It's a big investment for us but when someone responds on their day off, well, I feel better about it. This was echoed in several blogs when people commented that they had contacted Sailrite for help with machine adjustments, sewing techniques, etc. In other words, when they WEREN'T calling just to spend money. I'm sure Stephan and Dave understand that folks who get help with problems will be likely to come back and spend money later.
Will the machine be good? We borrowed a friend's and liked it but I'll get back to you on that one.
Now, can I interest anyone in a clean light duty Sears sewing machine?
