Sailrite has leapt to take care of me for 12 years
In Response To: Kudos to Sailrite (so far) ()

I don't do very much business with them. In '97 I bought one the first machines when they started building their own. I think it was designated LS1, no zig zag, just a beefy honkin' straight stitch machine. There were a couple of issues with it, but they were all over getting it straightened out. I didn't think it unusual at the time, since it was one of the first machines and I thought they were just busting butt to get a good start.

But in the years that have passed, their enthusiasm to answer every minor question and help you find the best product for the job at the best price they can muster, has been a beacon in the wilderness of the depression which settles in when one spends much of one's time doing battle on the phone because someone did not do their job well if at all.

But that old machine is still honkin'. It is permanently mounted on the corner of my 8'x8' work bench so I have plenty of workspace to pull cloth across. One of my projects next week will be to build my son a boat duffel for Christmas. What do you get for the young man who already has everything? You make him a boat bag, made out of old sails from the boat he grew up with. I hope he likes it.

Cheers.

btw, I just got back from Lowes. My dodger project has a spot that needs sanding that none of my power sanders can get to and will take a week getting right by hand. While out picking up materials for an electrical project we are doing to our offices, I slipped a Bosch Multi-x into the basket. I had planned to anyway, but when I saw they had it marked down to $159, I was doubly pleased. I'm off to the shop... new toys to play with.
