12 years ago when I went through the canal on a cruise ship we took a boat tour. In the engine room; control room, they had all the tools that one would find in a machine shop. I asked about it and the officer said that if they need a part made they don't fly it in; they fly in a Tool and Die maker to make it and fit it.

Now that is they way it should be done.
