... bronze strut, brass bearing, 1 1/8" shaft. Found the set screws, they came right out, there were two on the same side, took all the paint off all around, did not see any more. Bearing will not budge. Tried driving it with punches for an hour or so, from both ends, it did not budge a fraction. I did not yet try a torch, what I have probably won't get it hot enough. There's a hydraulic press at the boatyard, but I'd like to avoid the $100 or whatever they'll charge me for that. I don't have an older bearing that I can sleeve and try to drive out with, this one was new and installed 5 years ago. I guess I could spend half a day finding and machining a pipe with an ID of the shaft and have machined the OD to the bearing, or making some kind of contraption to press it out, but I was hoping for a quicker solution ... any suggestions ?
Maybe if I just yell at it for a while, something will happen.
