We had an afternoon sail like that once.

Left Eastport and came around the tip of East Quody Head just as the tide turned. From there on we had an 18 to 20 knot westerly wind and an outgoing tide. At times we saw 10.5 knots over the ground, rarely less than 7. Made it to Cutler in record time.
