my 'nav station' consists of a vhf radio and an empty spot where the broken old gps used to be. i hope to eventually put a navtex there.

i decided to get spot because the admiral saw the unit our friends have and decided it would be a good idea. it's not too expensive at eighty dollars and a hundred bucks a year for the service - might even let us cut back on the fifty cent a minute phone calls back home.

and there's a side benefit for my number two daughter. her boss is a cruiser wannabe. last time we went we sent pictures back over the internet and her boss used to come by her office every day asking if there were any new pictures. now she can show him our position using google sattelite pictures...
