Install a full size filter case if you have room, otherwise a half-size one (like I did). I use the block carbon filters as I'm interested primarily in removing the chlorine taste (which I add to the tank). Other filters are available, but I don't think any of them will remove bacteria. Well, maybe reverse osmosis but I don't think that's what you're after - a whole different ball game...
