The grounding for our SSB ( Icom M-710 ) goes from the radio to a Dynaplate. The Dynaplate is daisychained to the through hulls using only the bonding system of the boat ( 14 bronze through hulls ). We have a single 3" copper strap going from the Dynaplate leading aft to the bolts on the skeg rudder and then up to the antenna tuner. That's it.
We transmit as good as anyone else we know of. Sometimes I think that all the work involved in making a really good grounding system is just that,, a lot of work that doesn't do much.
Hell, you can make a good grounding system by just throwing about 20 feet of copper foil over the side of the boat. Not too practical though.
