I don't know if it was all that "debunked" but the bottom line was that the wharram guy just slowly dribbled out his story... (like pulling teeth) and others seemed to find all sorts of issues with both his approach and with local searches they were performing.
Near the end, it all seemed to come down to a missing Cat, laden with drugs, that some child molester had stolen/been hired to move, (under the guise of the CG) with no bill of sale, and some sloppy registration papers, all sight unseen by the guy claiming to be "the new owner," who himself "couldn't leave" Spain.
Let's just say it was a convoluted mess on one hand, and a lot of missing truth on the other.
I am not sure if anybody has the real whole picture, but suffice it to say that if you were the owner... there were a lot of missing steps that should have been taken before relying on internet BBSs to do your boat search.
