Just did that this weekend...
In Response To: Inflatable PFD maintenance ()
Had tested the PFD a couple months earlier by jumping in a pool... just to see what happens. It was quick and it inflated all the way, no problem.
After letting it dry out completely, I put a new CO2 on it and installed the manual inflator indicator.
Just this weekend I finally got around to inspecting and replacing the "pill." I took a good look at everything and it was clean, corrosion free and dry. Now it is also auto inflating. Seems to me that packing your own safety gear is on par with packing your own parachute... you take full responsibility.

- Good question. FYI, we self certify our liferaft.
- I toss the crew overboard and watch it inflate with a beer in my hand. Far more fun than just pulling the trigger.
