Do you have internal halyards? How many?
What's already inside the mast in terms of wires to the masthead and in between (anchor light, vhf, steaming light, radar?

How do the existing wires exit? Are there pull strings? etc.

It think that unless you'd like use Larry's suggestions to pull the stick, you need to provide more information to consider another option.

The issues include chafe, exiting the mast to get below, ease of doing the work, etc.
