We were once sailing the rhumb line from

Panama to to Jamaica heading for Montego Bay but woosed out about half way and turned down towards Isla Providencia. That would put us in after dark so we towed 300 feet of anchor line to slow us down. We still arrived in the middle of the night but the boat handled a lot better for it. I can't imagine having some flat bottom go fast in that situation. Hay, to each his own...
