I got hit by one of their customers at Santa Cruz Island last Summer. The short of it is that they dragged anchor, fouled some others, then wrapped their prop, and being a bigger boat picked up my anchor and dragged me into the rocks. I kedged out, but not before there was some fiberglass damage, a lost stern anchor of mine, and some other odds and ends from fending off. Their insuree and I ended up going to the same boatyard (Ventura) for repairs, and they had their surveyor look at my boat also. I paid up front, to expedite the repairs, but in less than two months I had a check for my total claim with no hassle. So I am looking at them for a competitive price this year, and so far they seem much cheaper than my current insurer, even with a new survey. So late this summer I will see what the quote is from my current insurer (New Hampshire), who seem to have raised their price outrageously in the past few years. Or maybe they just don't like to insure older sailboats.
