I finally got all the plumbing sorted out on my ol' Cheoy Lee MY. The pump started pumping and water started flowing. I ran around the boat to the three heads and galley and bled all the air out. I returned to the engine room to admire my work. One of the connections on the outlet hose exploded from the newly found water pressure. The end of it started flailing around, spraying me and everything down there with water. I quickly flipped off the circuit breaker and closed a valve and stopped it. I reconnected the connection and flipped on the breaker. The pump hummed, built up pressure and stopped. Then a connection to the hot water tank intake exploded and the engine room and myself was again sprayed with water. That one required me squeezing between the starboard engine and the air conditioning compressors and sitting on one of the hydraulic fin stabilizer units to get at. I had to get down there to replace the water heater element, which burned out when I first plugged the boat in because the hot water circuit breaker was on and there was no water in it.
But finally, I had running water and a hot shower this morning. When I left the boat, though, I turned the water pump circuit breaker off, just in case another old hose let go. I do have a GOBI lifetime achievement award.
