decided to go with the plastic for now. I know UV will kill it, but i am going to sand it and spray paint it white, and it will be mounted underneath the bino holder, so shouldn't get any direct rays. the holes came out perfectly using a hole saw with the work clamped down tightly.

I'll keep my eyes open for another type of box-- i think the Starboard is probably best bet. i need to find some scrap and now there will be no rush to find it.
