Quit an interesting story --a woman who was born in a village on Fogo Island on the remote North/Central coast of Newfoundland --talk about remote-- and who later went on to become quite wealthy in the tech industry, recently returned to the village with lots of money and a "mission" to create an international artists' retreat center there. Sounds hokey, but read the article --quite intriguing...if you manage to get up to that part of Newfoundland (or for anyone else heading up there this summer).
I'm not sure how long the link will work (from the Globe and Mail newspaper; they eventually catalog their stories online and make them available to subscribers only): http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/atlantic/self-made-millionaire-on-a-mission-to-save-her-heritage/article1585378/
