The shroud fairlead in action

Follow the URL for more text. This arrangement allows going forward with a 3' tether as shown. The loop hanging down is the 6' portion of the dual tether rig.(nl)Yes, if the mast goes over the side and the shroud separates at deck level, then you have more trouble than with a side deck jackline. I'd rather risk that then slipping between the lifelines on a 6' tether. Not sure when I'll be using this stuff in anger anyway. West Coast of Vancouver Island in the summer is usually not too rowdy. But the water is frigid so staying aboard is more than highly recommended.

These fairleads cost $169.75 each retail. I have been offered a friends and family discount but have no plans to gain financially, nor does Cyrus who made the first prototype. His CNC machined aluminum version is still in use as a flag halyard cleat (see aft lower shroud).

Photo was taken May 27th, 2010. Yesterday we had a perfect sailing breeze all the way back from Pleasant Harbor, through the opened Hood Canal Floating Bridge, followed by a beat down Puget Sound back to Seattle. Nothing like the forecast. What a treat!
