Thanks all. Broker etiquette question

There are a relatively large number of Tartan 30's around here. I assume that is because the factory is just down the road. I actually started looking at them yesterday on line. Thanks for the positive information on them.

I have a broker question as well as I have never used a broker as such (our powerboat was purchased through an agent representing the bank that reposessed it). So my entire broker knowledge base is this.....when listing with one, you sign a contract for length of listing and amount of commission which around here seems to be 10% or $2,000, whichever is more, and is either paid by the seller and/or taken out of the final selling price. When purchasing through a broker I "assume" you make what you consider a fair offer representing what a particular boat is worth to you.

Now the question. If you both buy and sell through the same broker, is it appropriate to try and negotiate a lower commission?
