I think that balance would have to go with

i) what type of paint (ablative painth is generally slower than a harder type -- but then you have to maintain it to keep it that way, or its lose its advantages;

ii) I think that you should spray vs. roll the paint, it will likely be smoother; and,

iii) having a diver periodically (maybe once a week or twice a month) if you don't sail the boat a lot of time;

I think that you'll need to balance the total program to make your bottom conditions match your expectations.
