We're leaving Tropical Dance in fresh water on the Rio Dulce river. At present we have 2 anodes on the shaft. One on the Maxprop and a second collar zinc on the shaft. The zincs are about 50% used up after almost 6 months in Western Caribbean salt water. I generally take the boat off line by disconnecting the shore power when we leave but would like to connect it so the marina can charge batteries if needed.
Rumor has it that generally there will be much less stray electricity in fresh water but I was just wondering what experiences fresh water sailors have had.
It will be here for hurricane season, about 5 months.
Any thoughts?
