If you'd spent as much time as I have on the forums where all the "boatzos" hang out and talk about the need for a bow thruster on a 25' I/O cruiser and see no need to go slowly at night in PNW waters full of submerged logs ("thats what insurance is for"), you might decide it's pretty accurate after all.
No one wants learn even basic skills any more..they'll spend $15 apiece for fender hangers instead of learning to tie a simple clove hitch. Actually practice learning how to back a 25' I/O into a slip? They'd rather spend $3000 for a bow thruster. I could list another dozen examples. It may explain why the traffic on this board has dropped so much in the last few years...the people here are serious about sailing and owning and maintaining your boats. That doesn't appeal to very many people any more.
Sad...really sad. But not that much different from the rest of our society I guess.
