Same here... I don't understand the "open cell" either...

() Sponges are open cell... seems like the last thing I would want for a seal.
Hence the reason I am looking for better portlight seal solutions.
The idea of a good cut to fit gasket doesn't bother me... as long as it is the right material. Open cell foam doesn't seem like the right stuff.
