Yeah, It may be quieter for you! But my guess is you put the generator on the aft deck and that sound carries more across the water then the main engine. Our generator; a small Kubata in the engine room is noisy as hell to us (even with the engine room sound proofed, yet those anchored near us say they can't even here it.
