Our incapsulated lead keel is great.
In Response To: Logs in the Dismal ()

We've hit so many things I don't think I'd want any other kind of keel,

In June off the coast of Honduras we hit a 3' diameter 70' long tree around 11PM at 7 knots. A 40,000 boat and it stopped us cold, spun us around and hung on for about 10 minutes smashing into the boat while we did our best to dislodge it. It finally let go. Fortunately we were under sail. If we were under power our Maxprop would have been toast.

Damn, it was a scary experience. We had leaves on the deck the next morning. Never saw it before we hit it on the moonless overcast night.
