I noticed that several of the boats at our place are doing something with their jib/genoa sheets while moored I would never have thought of in the past. They are taking them off the winches, forward through the blocks, coiling them and storing them hanging from the pulpit rail. (They are still wrapped several times around the furling headsail) I was thinking that this would get them up off the deck so they would be out of the grit dropped by the rain and road dust, I suppose they are also out of the way for docking and would dry quicker after rain?
We have always cleated off the sheets and the RF line while tied to the dock and stored the tails either in line hangers on the side of the coach house or on the lifelines.
Thoughts on this? Pros, cons?
