who showed me around Charleston and his beautiful home on James Island. He also did advance reconnaissance on the boat I ended up buying in Beaufort.

As for the proposed change, the diagram shows that the anchorage is also supposed to be extended in both directions along the Ashley R. But, I don't
recall the depths and conditions in the areas where they are calling for the extension (as a trade-off for taking away part of the anchorage). It would
be a shame, though, if there wasn't a decent place for a deep-keeled 'transient' to anchor. If that happens, I suspect that a lot of cruisers will simply
by-pass Charleston and that would be a pity.
