Had 2 cats, now one
In Response To: cats aboard ()

We traveled with 2 - 20 year old cats. They throw up within 1/2 hour of going to sea. After throwing up they are fine and just find the low side of the boat to sleep on. In bad seas we pick them up and take them to the litter box (in our shower) to use it and then carry them back to where they were. They seem to appreciate it and meow a kind of thank you as they really can't walk in bad weather.

We don't feed them before we leave as they become more seasick. We feed them with their favorite treats while on passage by bringing the treats to them along with water.

No problems really. While in the San Blas I took them to shore on a small atoll and they had a great time running around and exploring. They even went into the water and sat down to cook off. I wanted to teach them to swim but the Admiral shot that down.

When you get ready to make a passage, get all the stuff ready for them to throw up in. We have a small bowl and a bunch of paper towels. You can tell before it happens as they get a 'fu man chu' saliva drool and look at you like they hate you. Again, after they throw up their fine. We tried seasick meds but it doesn't work or help.
