I have a 25 year old manual Raritan PHII that has been great, other than annual maintenance, and a few parts here & there, no problems whatsoever, does exactly what it is suppose to do, every time, no hassle that I can remember.
I'm looking at the new (electric) Raritan Marine Elegence, I don't even have as nice a unit in my house, pricey little devil even from Defender. I saw one yesterday at Raritan in Lauderdale, it seems to be quite something. I want a household size bowl, it's probably time to upgrade, I'm sure my wife would love this one. I will probably go with the model that gives me pressurized fresh water, and remote sea-water pump option. Looks like it has all the bells & whistles, the Raritan folks tell me little or no annual service is required. That will be nice as my current location (in a tight space) is a pain in the ass to service, take apart for pump housing goo-ing, o-ring lubes & joker changes.
I'm concerned because now with the manual, we pump it plenty of times to make sure the lines are completely evacuated ... I question if the electric will get everything out of the lines in one vacu-flush. We spend 95% of our time in the Bahamas, where overboard discharge is the norm, we rarely if ever use the Holding Tank while there.
cheers, John
