Yes, you may be able to do that with the EVO... if...
In Response To: Verizon also uses CDMA ()

They chose to make the EVO a multifrequency phone... Sprint uses the 1.9GHz band and VZ uses 800MHz. Some phones are multimode and multi-frequency. I am not sure of all the specs on the EVO... other than it is WiMax, which is a technology that VZ is not using.

And there is NO European CDMA... it is all GSM over there. (although WCDMA and LTE do exist)

Yeah I know, confusing as hell.

And in spite of all the hardware technology, there is still the business side... while the phone may be able to work with a certain carrier... have you arranged to have "roaming" with that carrier? This is where SIM cards are nice... they carry your phone number and ID and allow you to move from one radio band handset to another... but SIM is only on GSM. The irony is that RUIM is a similar movable ID card that is used in CDMA phones... BUT NOT IN THE US.

If you want a true "world phone" get something from ATT... they tend to have the most robust business contacts and contracts... and expect to move a SIM card from phone to phone occasionally.

If you want fast data and a very reliable data network, don't go with ATT.

Are you frustrated yet?
