I like the engineering of the ports and integrated strainers, and the snap-on solid state switch has been great. Have had zero failures since I standardized on them. I've had lots of experience with failing bilge pumps from Rule though.
The WM no-questions in-store replacement policy is a big bonus. I did use that exchange on a fresh water pump from WM that wasn't made by Johnson. Walk in with old and walk out with new is much better than having to send one in for warranty via shipping. (When I send something in that I don't want to be without, it usually means I bought a replacement and either keep the repair as a spare or sell it on eBay. That can get expensive.)
