We were setting down and going to sleep on the boat anchored just off 'Stanleys Welcome Bar' in Cane Garden Bay back in the late 80's.
Here we are comfortable in our berths at 11 PM on a great evening. I was listening to the music and drifting off. At one point the music changed. I don't know what it was exactly but it was really good (more than good ) a bluesy rock and roll instrumental. I couldn't take it anymore and we got up, in the dingy and went Stanleys. Here's this guy playing with the local group and he started a new song, one of the old 'lovin Spoonful' songs and I realized who he was. He sat in for about a half hour, went to the bar and sat next to me. We talked for a while, he introduced me to his wife and we got into a conversation on cruising. Seems he was staying in a rented place on the beach for a month with his family.
It was quite an interesting and unexpected experience. Not Jimmy Buffet but I've always liked his music. One of the best parts was that other than the group playing there was only Stanley and 5 people in the place including us.
