Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

That makes coastal sailing in New England sound like the deal of the century.

Reading that, it occurred to me sailing between Maine and Nantucket for a few weeks last summer, outside of splurging for a mooring, we really didn't have to spend a dime if we didn't want to(we did of course, on what we wanted to spend money on).

Free anchorages, public water access everywhere, no questions, no forms, no hassles. We haven't even been boarded or inspected by any law enforcement agency(not that we're not ready ) since we've been sailing the coast of Maine. That's nearly 30 seasons.

Over the years, I'm happiest getting my sailing on an endless coastline, infinite islands in near perfect winds ,.... and my cruising out of a suitcase reaching my destinations at 600 mph.
