Hey Dan,
I quickly tired of keeping count, but correct me if I'm wrong, throughout that whole comedy of calamities, was there ever an instance of anchor dragging that was NOT immediately followed by an engine failure due to "bad fuel"? LMAO!
I don't know, the guy upstairs might just be trying to suggest some of these folks take up another hobby... I'm pretty well-versed in the whole Series of Cascading Failures myself, but some of these simultaneous "breakages" of GPS, steering, and engine which put a boat on a reef, and consequent bilge pump failure, well, that's pretty amazing... (grin) Damn, I never knew a bilge pump required an operational float switch to run?
Perhaps the most amazing thing about that whole story, however, is that a tender left in the water in Burglary Bay after dark wasn't stolen before it flipped over... Isn't that supposed to be one of the arguments in favor of davits, the ease with which you can hoist your tender at night, or whenever?
Nah, don't mind me - I'm suffering from cabin fever, last President's Day I was crossing the Gulf Stream out of Miami, bound for Andros...(grin) Good on your friends for being out there... BTW, if you're in touch with these folks, tell them not to miss Guanaja, that was my favorite spot in the Bay Islands...
So, they're charging $6/night to anchor in Utila now? Damn, one more place I guess I was lucky to see when I did...
best regards,
Jon
