Second the Hallberg-Rassy.

HR has always built some pretty rugged boats. The 35' Rasmus is a great example. It's design is a bit dated, but the little center cockpit would make a great live aboard, I think. The aft cabin is a great place to stash your stuff, something that's always a problem on a live aboard. I also really like the glass windscreen. Looking at the world through your typical isenglass dodger always bugged me.

These are usually priced in the $30 - $60k range, depending on condition.
