I don't have much to add except to say look behind you almost as much as you do ahead of to to make sure you're not being set out of the channel.
And if you steer toward something, make sure you are actually steering toward it. This is especially important on these modern twin-wheeled boats or any time you are not standing on centerline when steering. Parallax will put you on the mud if you are not aware of what's going on.
BTW, did you see that notice that the USCG is thinking of closing Oregon Inlet? Can't keep up with the sand.
