The Mac 26 is a water ballasted boat and was in production for many years. The one pictured above is such a boat. It was designed to be an entry level, very trailerable boat powered by a small outboard. Roger Macgregor did a nice job designing sailboats for this specific application and they are very safe boats when common sense is used AND the water ballast is full. With these boats, trying to sail with a partially filled tank can be very dangerous in the sense that it is easy to be blown over. 10 people would have certainly overloaded the boat.
The model with the wrap around windows could be either an older Mac 19 powersailor, or one of the latest versions, the 26x. Water ballasted as well, but the 26x is a crossover like the new Hunter Edge. part sail, part power with a max of 50hp OB power. This one comes with more headroom and wheel steering unlike the early 26 which is tiller steer only. They are very popular with their owners with many active groups around the Great Lakes.
Roger also designed and produced the Macgregor 65 (which I believe holds the record for the Long Beach to Ensanada race??) and a Macgregor Catamaran in the 30' range as I recall. About a lifetime ago when I lived in San Diego, my roommate dated Roger's daughter.
