I was amazed that the place was dead! I mean as far as cruisers go, it was dead. We didn't see more then a half dozen cruising boats the entire time. There were a bunch of charter boats out of the Moorings base in Placentia but we spent days and days out on the cays and never saw another boat. There isn't much of a cruising community at all. I suppose it's because of the cost. It cost us, on top of the check in costs, $10.00 a day per person. If you anchor inside the Lighthouse Reef park it's $30.00 per person per day. That's why every one hangs out at Roatan at the west end at $40.00 a week for a mooring. We moved Tropical Dance out of the Rio Dulce but only got as far as the cays 20 miles north of Placecia. We were going to move her as far a Belize City but cruising happened. I had a great time and it was good to get back into the Caribbean again. If I can get my other computer up and running I'll post some photos.
