One year at the end of August I sailed from Newport to Block with the intention of going thru
Watch Hill Passage to Noank and having the boat pulled the next day because of the possibility
of a hurricane. The Great Salt Pond was almost completely empty - it was sort of spooky. When
I walked into town it was empty too and no one was coming over on the ferries.
