It's about a young guy named Ben who's led an adequate, yet unremarkable life. He wanted to sing in elementary school but his teacher told him he was awful, so he stopped. He wanted to be a writer, but his first novel was rejected, so he stopped. He became a teacher who bored his class with Shakespeare, and he was engaged to a nice, adequate young woman. The movie starts with a doctor telling Ben that he has an agressive stage four cancer with a 90% probablility that he won't make two years.
If you had a prognosis like that, what would you do? Ben bought a motorcycle (his fiance' hated motorcycles and wouldn't let him buy one) and took off across Canada, pondering his fate and finally living his life his way.
Logan never had to worry about decided how he would live the rest of his life. He lived life on his own terms, and I'm sure he died with no regrets.
