... I was damn glad I had my Mason Supreme well set w/100' of chain out (in maybe 18-20') last fall in Sucia Island SJ's - Echo Bay when the S'easter blew in ... yes we are lucky to have some well sheltered areas here in the PNW ... but I'm guessing a few "that day" wish they had better gear ...
... something like 6 or so grounding's so I hear ... we upped and skid-addled at barely first light ... my attention was to GTFO of there ASAP (it seemed to be building by the minute!!) ... barely was making a knot over ground into it to round the corner out of Echo, to seek shelter in the lee of Orchas Island ... gusting well into the mid 40's against an 11' tide (against wind) made for truly lumpy mixed bag of crapola ... even here in the PNW don't underestimate good anchoring gear ... I sleep much better with it (M.S.+100') vs my backup (plow w/60' of chain)...
... and have for the past 5 or so years I've had it!
Perhaps one of the best pieces of gear ever purchased for the boat ... IMO.
