In doing some work, I removed a piece of burned bulkhead in my boat. 
I've been aware of this chared spot since I've owned the boat. It's from long ago. I suspect it was electrical, perhaps the fresh water pump wiring. As you can see, it was onfire and luckily someone was onboard to put it out. My boat has dodged more than one of these bullets in 50 years.
