The book says you can anchor anywhere along the west side in settled weather, just look for a sand spot in 8 to 20 feet.
We dropped the anchor approx. 18.33N ---- 87.24W. I delete the mark but still have the track so it's about there.
Wasn't bad. At first we thought it would be rolly. Especially when we were looking for an area to drop the hook where it was suppose to be but when we went east and found a spot of sand in 12 feet is was better than 1/2 the anchorages we've been to recently. The wind always comes from the East so I didn't have to worry about all that ocean behind me and the bank was 6 miles wide and mostly about 4 feet so it wasn't bad at all. Just weird.
If you look at a chart there's a number of what looks like cays on the west and east side but they don't exist. Cayo Norte and Cayo Centro is the only land on the 7 X 25 mile bank
