(Sound Sailing Center in Norwalk CT). EP2000 is an eco-friendly bottom paint that was rated really high by Practical Sailor. After 18 months in the water, their test sample came out almost as good as it went in. It doesn't use copper or biocides. It's formulated so that a chemical reaction occurs with water and sunlight and a coating of hydrogen peroxide forms on the hull, keeping off the critters.
The only down side to it is that ALL old bottom paint must be removed, which we did. We then did a coat of Interprotect 2000 followed up by the EP2000. The painting must be done when the outside temperature is at least 60 degrees for 16 hours, which really delayed us getting the boats ready. If it's colder than that, the solvents in the paint won't gas off properly and the paint can peel off in the water.
To me, it seems like a pretty cool product.
