Could it be your ignition switch, maybe a momentary switch, stuck on and didn't release?

() It comes to my mind because I had it happen with the one that controls the glow plugs on my Nissan diesel. Ultimately, it burned out the solenoid. Amazingly, the glow plugs are the type that can take it.
