In contrast to what you experienced down south there was a great breeze up here on the northern edge of Penbay. I left Belfast about 11:00 hrs without much in the way of expectations for a sail but Aeolus smiled upon Shikari and I as the wind right off the land (northerly) was in the 6-12 knt range all the way to Searsport.....like you I was by myself, this time alone is precious to me as my week is filled with trying to solve everyone elses problems, so I get to spend a couple of hours forgetting mine!
It was interesting to note that I had a consistent 6-12 knts while between me and Turtle Head on Isleboro I could see a big new Beneteau that left Belfast just ahead of me drifting along with slatting sails....I had my rail down in the gusts. The ride back to Belfast @ 13:50 hrs or so was just as consistent.
All in all a memorable day even though it was brief.
The pic is Molly working (note her tongue) aboard one of the MMA race boats during a regatta in Camden a couple of weekends ago.....
