After putting it off for a long time it looks like we will be putting an ElectroScan treatment system in our boat. We are Pacific Northwest sailors and there are no NDZ's in our area. We will need the brine tank since we also spend time on the Columbia River. I've talked to a number people who have had them for several years and none of them have said they miss their holding tanks. (Imagine that!) One question I have that I can't find on the Raritan site or in Peggie's book is whether it is worth installing a Y-valve for direct overboard discharge when possible. We spend time in Canada where discharge is allowed and it would be nice not to have to work the system and consume the electrical power. It would also be nice to have an option in an emergency if we have a problem with the ElectroScan. Anyone have any advice on this topic or any other issues with the installation? Thanks.
